Our Special Boy Dave

Dave’s ashes came back yesterday, he’s now home and back in his pen, god bless you Dave run free over that rainbow bridge, we all miss you <3 :'(

“Our very Special Boy Dave”

It’s with a very heavy heart I have to tell you our very special boy Dave was put to sleep this morning, It really wasn’t an easy decision,  I couldn’t put him through any more, his eye’s told me “Mum I’ve had enough please let me go” Dave was such a lovely boy, as you may of read he came in on 16th Feb 2010 they thought to be 6mths to a year old, and was epileptic which meant he had to have medication morning and night, he also had urinary problems from day one, he was recently diagnosed diabetic as well which meant insulin injections twice a day, we could not get his dosage right and was found to be insulin resistant, he was incontinent and stopped using the litter trays completely, so we had to use incontinence pads everywhere, we had various other tests done and they tested for acromegaly but he was deteriorating fast and when they suggested tests for cushings disease as well I felt I can’t put him through any more. Dave was an incredible cat, he had been to the local primary school 3 times to see the year 1’s and to a nursery which he loved and all the attention, he also loved walking around my garden on his harness and lead, my own cats didn’t take any notice at all. We will all miss Our Dave and sure his house mate Hobo will too. We are having him individually cremated and ashes back. God bless you Dave run free over that rainbow bridge, so sorry we couldn’t save you :'(  Love you Davey Boy Lemon <3 <3 <3

Update on “Our Special Boy Dave”

Dave went to the vets for the day last Friday sadly his glucose curve was abysmal, he is insulin resistant, they have taken more bloods to test for Acromegaly if this comes back positive it will not be good for Dave as he has been through so much already, poor lad is still incontinent as well and treatment would be radiotherapy and an operation which would be specialist, I cannot put him through all that, he looks depressed as it is and who can blame him :'( Will keep you informed, the test results take 7/10 days 🙁

Latest Update on Dave

Our special boy Dave has been very unwell, thinking he had another urine infection I got a sample and took him to our vets on 4th Oct, they took bloods and tested the urine which was found to have blood in it, it also showed from the bloods that he is now diabetic as well as being epileptic 🙁  poor Dave, we are struggling to get the right dose of insulin, he came back with antibiotics, needles and insulin, he started to be incontinent so needed incontinent pads to lay on, he’s had an appointment every tuesday to check levels and a glucose curve every friday for 3 wks and is due again on Fri 1st Nov, each curve costs £120 once we get his insulin correct the incontinence should stop and then we can investigate why he keeps getting urine infections and always has blood in it, he had x rays and a ultra sound scan last year which didn’t really show much so this means he will need a CT Scan which will be in the region of £1500.00. Would anyone like to sponsor our special boy? He has been with us since 16th Feb 2010 and already has medication for his epilepsy twice a day and now twice daily insulin injections. If you would like to sponsor Dave you can donate on here and set up a monthly donation even £5 a month would help as no amount is too small and would be most appreciated, if you would like further information please contact me Eve on our contact us page

Update on Dave & Hobo

Dave and Hobo have been living together for some time now, they get on very well, both are very laid back cats, as you know Dave has been with us since 2010 and is on epileptic medication twice daily, Hobo came in almost a year ago now, he has a heart condition and is on medication once daily. They are like two little old men sharing their pent house suit <3 😀

Dave & Hobo

Dave and Hobo have been living together in harmony for well over a month now, they get on famously, Hobo loves the heated igloo bed as you can see and Dave at the moment prefers his plush mat! although he too has a heated igloo, they both like their water fountain and Dave still likes to play with the water 🙂 A match made in heaven, just love these boys.

Update on Dave

Dave has a new friend, Hobo, we moved Hobo in with Dave as we were desperate for pen space, we tried them a couple of times before the permanent move and they get on really well. Hobo will end his days with us as he has Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Only problem is Dave likes Hobo’s dry more than his own haha. They now have a water fountain as well to encourage Dave to drink more and he loves it!

Dave has a new scratch tower!!

002 003 004 005

Dave is doing very well and the weather is improving slightly so he is enjoying his walks around the garden on his harness and lead.  We thought we would treat Dave to a new Scratch Tower as he has always had 2nd hand ones, he’s such a lovely boy and he loves it, the swinging ball he broke off the 1st night!! But looked like he enjoyed himself.  He also had a flying visit to the vets to get his nails cut as they were catching in his bedding, so laid back he just laid there and let the vet nurse clip away 🙂

Update on “Dave”

Dave is doing really well on his prescription food and I took a urine sample in to check and all was fine apart from a faint trace of blood but they don’t know why. He is well in himself although he did have another fit last Thursday morning but it didn’t last long. He will still have the occasional fit but hopefully no more clusters of fits like he had in August 2015 We all love our special boy “Dave” he’s an absolute star 🙂
